A new series in which I will give recommendations on some recent findings that I have encountered, ranging from albums to songs. Also some tracks recommendations I might not have enjoyed all too much, but figured others would like them.
Venice by Anderson .Paak
Released: 2014
Label: Steel Woe, OBE, EMPIRE

Although Anderson .Paak's debut might feel dated considering its only 4 years old, many great tracks reside in the album. Sure, a lot of electronic influences feel cumbersome, but there are plenty of neo-soul vibes to forget about them. Venice sort of serves as Anderson's starter-pack for what would become Malibu. Best tracks boil down to "Might Be", "Milk N' Honey", and "I Miss That Whip".
Sailor Moon by Lilbootycall
Released: 2017
Self-released
I'm really not a fan of the "lil's" out there in hip-hop, but "Sailor Moon" is an undeniably catchy track that cuts the exception. The song has a beautiful horn sample from an anime that loops throughout the track, and it just gives the track a quirky feeling. The only shame comes to the fact that lilbootycall only has one song on Spotify, but more songs from his discography reside in the realm of Soundcloud.
Supreme Blientele by Westside Gunn
Released: Griselda Records, EMPIRE

Westside Gunn had actually appeared on a collaboration with MF Doom on $aveme's track "Spit 4". Supreme Blientele comes across as a swaggering album that oozes with wrestling references and soul samples, and not to mention the infectious nasal-ish voice of Westside Gunn. With collaborations from Anderson .Paak, Jadakiss, and Roc Marciano, Supreme Blientele is truly an album for underground hip-hop aficionado's.
Be The Cowboy by Mitski
Released: 2018
Label: Dead Oceans

Be The Cowboy has received wide attention from many music critics, and it's not hard to see why. The album has beautiful musical arrangements from piano ballads such as "Nobody" and guitar ballads with "Lonesome Love". The album does not identify as a total "indie" album due to the baroque-pop influences it carries through the track-listing. While I did not understand the album at first, the concept and Mitski's voice has grown on me.
